Even though internet bandwidth connections are increasing in speed via DSL or cable, the common question which repeatedly gets discussed is that the only way to move to an cloud backup solution is if the internet connection especially the upload link is extremely fast from a customer’s site. Justified in reasoning however when the SecurStore solution is looked at, this common myth gets dispelled.
SecurStore use 3 main technologies when backing up client data, this includes compression, de-duplication and delta-blocking. The initial backup is onto a disk which SecurStore courier at no extra charge to the customer and then back to the data centre. After this the customer can set daily backups and only the incremental changes get sent across over the internet to be backed up after the 3 technologies are applied.

The solution looks at each file in 4k blocks therefore each day the customer’s data is analyzed for what has been modified, added or deleted. Only the changes are compressed and backed up hence eliminating the need to have fast connections. When compared to tapes, SecurStore keeps all the generations set by the customer therefore can rebuild any environment to any previous state.
