London, November 5th, 2007:
SecurStore today announced that it is providing Latitude Group, a globalsearch engine marketing specialist, with its online backup and recovery services for all of its UK offices and data centres. The data generated from the agency’s
multiple locations is securely backed up online by SecurStore every day.
Latitude Group, one of the UK’s ten fastest growing companies, was faced with a problem of protecting 2.5TB of critical Exchange, SQL and file based data, on more than 30 servers distributed across multiple locations, which was continuing to grow on a month by month basis.
Latitude therefore needed to find a centralised, reliable and cost effective alternative to replace their traditional tape backups. SecurStore provided Latitude with a solution to enable them to remotely manage secure backups from each of their locations. Latitude’s 2.5TB of critical data has been reduced to 1TB through the use of standard SecurStore features such as data compression, data deduplication (single copy of duplicated files, found anywhere in the clients data is stored in a common file library), and delta processing (only changes - taken at 4K block level - of existing files are backed up, not the whole file). All critical data is instantly available online to Latitude with no involvement from SecurStore.
In order to facilitate even faster recovery of critical data,Latitude makes use of SecurStore’s local copy feature to store a copy of the most critical data in their own data centre.
SecurStore also provides Latitude with its Backup Lifecycle Management Service (BLM) as a cost effective, automatic archiving solution for old and non critical data. Data is intelligently meta-tagged as it is moved to the BLM, ensuring ease of restore whether by download across the internet or by portable media.

Scott Sargeant, Head of Infrastructure at Latitude, said: “We chose SecurStore over other online backup service providers because of the service functionality, technical support capabilities and impressive service levels. SecurStore was also extremely supportive of our business requirements, by deploying a complimentary HP Modular Smart Array (MSA) to allow for local storage of our most critical data.
” Alexander Eiríksson, CEO of SecurStore, said, “Every business now relies on its data to function, but more than this, Latitude actually exists because of its data. Ensuring maximum uptime and security of their data was Latitude’s main concern. With our fast recovery functionality of entire servers (using Bare Metal Restore) or even single files, we are able to guarantee Latitude the minimum of downtime.”
Scott Sargeant added: “We have carried out several small file restores in production and have completed bare metal restores of our servers in a development environment. This has proved to us how secure, stable, fast and easy to deploy and use the SecurStore solution is. We are a rapidly growing business and we are confident that we have found the best, most scalable and cost effective backup and recovery service to protect our business data well into the future.”
