The cloud has assumed a new definition with the release of Asigra’s latest version, V12. The software now permits enterprise users of Salesforce.com, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) backup the proprietary cloud based applications, schema and data bases into a central repository and restore it fully or partially, at will or on need back to the source without additional licensing requirements. The security of information in transit and rest can be maintained with AES 256 bit encryption which activates with every operation initiated by the user.
Integrating diverse proprietary software Application Process Interfaces (API) is not easy. The integration demands a high degree of coordination and understanding between the partners and a willingness to break down organization boundaries to create a successful deployment for the benefit of customers. Asigra and Salesforce.com have taken the bold step of voluntarily integrating their cloud platforms to service the backup and recovery needs of customers who use both services. This move has under-scored the customer-focused approach of these two service providers and increased the level of confidence their customers have in their capabilities.
Asigra V12 allows Salesforce.com customers to retain control over their Salesforce backup. The Backup of the Salesforce can be configured from within the Asigra backup interface and can be scheduled to run automatically at different intervals. A manual backup can also be initiated at any time. Data that is transmitted from Salesforce.com database is automatically encrypted with AES 256 bit encryption at source and stored encrypted in the Asigra data store. Data transmitted for recovery into the Salesforce database is also sent over the Internet in an encrypted format. Data versions and time stamped versions of backup can be created and identified with unique identifiers automatically and specific versions of the data can be selected and restored to Salesforce.com database with a single click and in a matter of a few minutes. CSV uploads are no longer required and there are no additional fees or SLAs for rolling back the data to a previous copy of the database.
Such direction of development in cloud technology is not unexpected. Integration of clouds and cloud applications has been on the cards for some time now. Software alliances over the last five years have been heralding the shape of things to come. Users who adopted the cloud in the early years of the technology have been feeling the pinch of being unable to transfer information stores from one proprietary cloud to another. Asigra’s V12 is just the culmination of a growing demand for migration capabilities from cloud to cloud.
