According to a study from King Fish Media (along with Hub Spot and Junta42) about three quarters of the companies surveyed already had a social media marketing strategy in place. Cloud providers have also moved the application layers beyond simple consolidation to public facing services and architectures. They are offering flexibility, efficiency, low costs and scalability and doing away with silo-constrained architectures that prevent organizations from realizing the efficiencies of the cloud. They are virtualizing the layer between the hypervisor and the application and building on top of smart operating systems to replace cloud virtualization layers and run the applications.
As a result, a number of successful viral campaigns have been launched by users riding on a variety of social media channels. Operations no longer hinder creativity and users can communicate in a number of interactive and creative ways. Additionally, users always have sufficient server capacity to accommodate the data that pours in following the successful deployment of a cloud based marketing campaign.
