Successful cloud deployments enable enterprises to go selectively viral with their data. Social media marketing, viral marketing on a “Facebook scale” can become a reality. You can launch a YouTube video demonstrating your product or a tweet from within your own private cloud, spewing information into the social network. Blog posts can pick up data from your database on the fly and force web spiders to pick on the key words that will make your site rank at the top of the search engine page.

According to a study from King Fish Media (along with Hub Spot and Junta42) about three quarters of the companies surveyed already had a social media marketing strategy in place. Those who did not have it had the intention of implementing a strategy in the near future. The down trend in the economy had not reduced their enthusiasm for viral marketing, as cloud computing has made the costs of reaching out to customers cheaper and simpler.  Most of them are hooked to the idea of starting small tweets, posts or comments and fanning the flame till it becomes viral. They see potential in using scalable cloud resources to dovetail into social media and create campaigns that provide them with real time feedback.

Cloud providers have also moved the application layers beyond simple consolidation to public facing services and architectures. They are offering flexibility, efficiency, low costs and scalability and doing away with silo-constrained architectures that prevent organizations from realizing the efficiencies of the cloud.  They are virtualizing the layer between the hypervisor and the application and building on top of smart operating systems to replace cloud virtualization layers and run the applications.

As a result, a number of successful viral campaigns have been launched by users riding on a variety of social media channels. Operations no longer hinder creativity and users can communicate in a number of interactive and creative ways. Additionally, users always have sufficient server capacity to accommodate the data that pours in following the successful deployment of a cloud based marketing campaign.  They are able to interact with and collaborate on marketing campaigns in new and compelling ways. Interaction metrics generate leads and establish customer relationships in ways never possible before.
